On June 12 and 13, the 4th International CCUS Conference was held in Beijing under the theme of “Smart CCUS for Carbon Neutrality: Empowering the Large-scale Realization of Dual Carbon Goals”. At the conference, COGCI’s portfolio company Basemof received another honor. Standing out among over 20 submitted cases, it was awarded the “|Outstanding Cases for CCUS Technology Innovation 2026” for its industrial demonstration project using the MOF slurry-based carbon capture technology.

Under the guidance of the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21, National Natural Science Foundation of China, the conference was co-hosted by the China University of Petroleum-Beijing, the International Carbon Dioxide Capture, Utilization, and Storage Technology Innovation Cooperation Organization, the UNESCO Chair in Green Transition for Carbon Neutrality and Climate Change, the Chinese Society of Rock Mechanics and Engineering and the ZHONGGUANCUN Green Mine Industry Alliance to provide a high-level academic exchange and industrial collaboration platform for the global CCUS community. Academicians, professors, industrial experts, and guests from 16 countries gathered at this grand event to showcase the latest domestic and international advancements in CCUS technologies, which is of great significance in driving the large-scale application of CCUS technologies and contributing to the realization of the global carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals.
Basemof’s recognition as an innovation outstanding case at the conference highlights the industry’s attention and acknowledgment of the technological potential and commercialization value of MOFs in carbon capture applications. With the support of COGCI, Basemof has built an environment-friendly hundred-ton-scale industrial MOFs synthesis facility, delivering the highest synthesis efficiency in the industry and reducing the MOFs production cost. Basemof has also developed a series of MOFs with high adsorption capacity, excellent selectivity, and low desorption temperatures, enabling application in high-value scenarios like decarbonization of oilfield associated gas, ethane separation from natural gas, and carbon capture from medium-temperature shift gas from refinery hydrogen production. Furthermore, through its pioneering MOF slurry-based absorption-desorption process, Basemof relies on mature chemical equipment supply chains and intelligent operation technologies to significantly reduce both capital expenditure and energy consumption of gas separation facilities, effectively removing barriers to large-scale commercialization and offering a novel approach to cost reduction and efficiency improvement in CCUS technologies.
COGCI will continue to empower Basemof’s MOF slurry-based carbon capture technology for validation and commercial deployment across more industrial scenarios, thereby unlocking further value.

OGCI China Climate Investments
OGCI China Climate Investments (“CCI”) was launched and established in 2022 by China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Climate Investment (CI), Hainan Free Trade Zone Development Equity Investment Fund (Hainan FTZ Fund), and China Oil and Gas Climate Investments (COGCI). COGCI serves as the general partner and fund manager. Aligned to the Paris Agreement and the principle of achieving a carbon circular economy, CCI focuses on CO2 emission reduction, methane emission reduction and CCUS through four key sectors: energy, industry, buildings and transportation.
